Kelly McBrady

“The Mole was bewitched, entranced, fascinated. By the side of the river he trotted as one trots, when very small, by the side of a man who holds one spell-bound by exciting stories; and when tired at last, he sat on the bank, while the river still chattered on to him, a babbling procession of the best stories in the world, sent from the heart of the earth to be told at last to the insatiable sea.”

Kenneth Grahame, The Wind and the Willows

ABOUT KELLY

Her father built log cabins in the desert, her mother did ‘the books’. They loved to travel. Kelly spent a large portion of her childhood in a campervan listening to cheesy John Denver cassette tapes and exploring different forests and abandoned western towns with them. She kept traveling when she grew up, and somehow found herself in Australia. Her accent confuses people.

She studied Communications/Graphic Design, Studio Arts, and Urban Horticulture and worked as a greeting card designer and web manager before diving into painting and illustrations. Now she does a little bit of everything. Her greatest love is op shopping for rare and obscure children’s middle grade novels. She almost always judges books by their covers.

In her journal you'll find poems and sketches and little stories. In her paintings you'll find animals who dance and sing, and landscapes she connects with. She likes the thoughts that come tiptoe-ing out of her head in the wee hours of the morning.

Kelly lives in Victoria along with her plump rescue cats named Theo and Vincent, after the Van Gogh brothers. For more info please visit the FAQ page.
